BHP sees meaningful synergies in the Bowen Basin if they combine with Anglo
Anglo-American has rejected BHP’s surprise takeover bid, which was launched late last week.
If successful, the bid would have seen BHP significantly expand its coal mining footprint in the Bowen Basin – after nearly a decade of selling down its position.
BHP’s initial offer valued Anglo at around $60 billion, which Anglo rejected late Friday.
